This weekend I prepared to make a split from the blue/purple hive.

I actually made two splits from from the hive.

I named the one split (pictured in the middle below) "Phoenix". The mythology says it's a bird who's ability to be reborn from its own ashes implies that it is immortal, though in some stories the new Phoenix is merely the offspring of the older one. I felt it was fitting that since the middle hive is a result of the blue/purple hive, I call it Phoenix.



However, I need a new name for the other split (pictured with the single purple deep above). It will receive a new queen tomorrow, a hygienic queen from  a professional breeder.
